The school was founded on Friday, 26th September, 1980.
The school was named “Ïbeshe Grammar School”. The first Principal was Mr. A.A. Oshin. There were seven buildings, six constructions of 6 classrooms and one of four classrooms.
The name of the school was changed from Ibeshe Grammar School to IVORY GRAMMAR SCHOOL, Ibeshe by the principal. No reason was given for the change. The school registered twenty – three students as the first set of form V students for the 1985 WAEC Examination certificate. When the new policy on Education was implemented in the state on January 6th 200, the school split into two 1.e Ivory Junior Grammar school and Ivory Senior Grammar School.
