FUTA Disclaimer on 2022/2023 Post UTME Registration

In the FUTA latest news is the disclaimer on 2022/2023.

In contrast to allegations circulating on some social media platforms and in online news media, FUTA has not started accepting registrations for the 2022–2023 academic session’s post–UTME screening exercise.

This is to inform the public, especially eligible candidates, of this.

As a result, it is best to ignore any material that suggests the exercise has already begun and that qualified individuals should register on certain sites.

In due course, reliable information regarding the exercise will be released via the University’s official media platforms, including its website, Facebook page, and other reputable media outlets.

The public and qualified candidates should be on the lookout for scammers and imposters.

ASUU Rejects Appointment of First Female VC in FUTA

FUTA Latest News

Prof. Adenike Oladiji’s selection as the new vice-chancellor of the university has been rejected by the Federal University of Technology Akure chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

Ambassador Godknows Igali, Pro-Chancellor, and Chairman of Council corrected Prof. Oladiji’s appointment.

She will be the institution’s eighth substantive VC.

Concerned senators issued a statement that included the rejection of Prof. Oladiji and was signed by Profs. P. A. Aborisade and M. B. Oyun.

They claimed that Prof. Oladiji’s selection procedure was opaque and rife with fraud.

The concerned ASUU members claimed that the appointment violated the statute governing vice-chancellor selection at the institution (Act No. 11 of 1993, as revised in 2003).

They questioned why the second-place candidate would be chosen without compellingly explaining why the first contender was passed up.

“Electing a prearranged preferred candidate whose total process score is lower than that of the candidate who came first, tosses merit overboard,” reads the statement.

Unfortunately, we can’t and won’t accept that, and it won’t stand.

Prof Adenike Oladiji Emerges as FUTA’s Vice-Chancellor

FUTA Latest News

One of the FUTA’s latest news is that Prof Adenike Oladiji has emerged as FUTA’s first female vice-chancellor.

In its 41 years of existence, Prof. Adenike Oladiji has become the first female vice-chancellor of the Federal University of Technology (FUTA).

Professor (Mrs.) Adenike Temidayo Oladiji of the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Ilorin has been named the 8th substantive Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology Akure, or FUTA.

The Council approved the nomination at its Special Meeting on Thursday, May 12, 2022, which was presided over by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Ambassador (Dr.) Godknows Igali.

The Council chose twenty of the 27 male and 2 female applicants that submitted applications for the position for an interview at the beginning of the process.

One of the 19 individuals who had been shortlisted for interviews did not show up.

The Joint Council and Senate Selection Board nominated three candidates for an appointment following the current rules guiding the procedure after the interview.

Council put it to a vote because the three recommended candidates’ scores were so close—only 0.1 percent separated them—and Professor Oladiji won, earning her appointment.

According to current laws, the Governing Council of Universities appoints vice-chancellors for universities. On the recommendation of an internal selection committee, it has the authority to select one of the top three applicants.

Professor Oladiji’s appointment, which became effective on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, is stated in a letter of appointment that was signed by Ambassador (Dr.) Igali. It is for a single term of five years.
