Hispanic Scholarship Fund Eligibility/ Selection Requirements

The Hispanic Scholarship Fund can be an option for you at nearly every stage of your education, including when you’re a:

  • Undergraduate student (all years)
  • Graduating high school senior
  • Transferring from a community college to a four-year university Graduate student (law school, medical school, MBA, and all other full-time masters or PhD programs)

However, in order to be an HSF Scholar and be eligible for scholarships, you must also:

  • Be of Hispanic heritage
  • Be a US citizen, permanent legal resident, or DACA recipient.
  • For high school students, a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale (or similar) is required; for college and graduate students, a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) is required.
  • Plan to enroll full-time at a four-year, accredited, public or not-for-profit institution or graduate school in the United States for the following academic year.
  • Fill out the FAFSA or state-specific financial assistance applications (if applicable)

Documents Required

Applying for the Hispanic Scholarship Fund will require you to gather several documents to complete your online application. Luckily, it’s nothing too complicated!

Here’s everything you’ll need:

  • A transcript from your most recent high school or college. You might be able to order them online. If not, contact your high school guidance counselor or college registrar.
  • A completed FAFSA form. Check out our FAFSA application instructions if you’ve never done it before!
  • A copy of your Financial Aid Report (SAR). After submitting your FAFSA, you will receive this.
  • A letter of financial assistance grants from the college/university you want to attend. This is obtained from the financial assistance office at your college/university.
  • A photograph. You must provide a professional headshot or a student photograph.
  • Verification of enrollment from your college/university. This must be requested through your school’s admissions office. If you haven’t yet registered, you can send it after receiving your HSF award letter in the summer.

  • At least one letter of academic recommendation from a teacher, academic advisor/guidance counselor, or another individual who has impacted your academic advancement must write This letter.   • Employment Authorization Certificate (EAD). If you are a DACA participant, you are exempt from this requirement.
