1. University of Oxford
The University of Oxford once again wins the UK competition this year, dropping one spot to fifth in the overall rankings.
Oxford is the top-ranked institution in the UK for faculty-student ratio (eighth position) and citations per professor, achieving high scores across all metrics (44th place).
Oxford has educated more than 30 world leaders, 27 British prime ministers, 50 Nobel laureates, and 120 Olympic medalists. Some of its well-known alumni include Hugh Grant, Indira Gandhi, and Stephen Hawking.
2. University of Cambridge
The University of Cambridge is home to 117 Nobel laureates in total, and its mathematicians have earned 11 Fields awards.
The likes of biologist Charles Darwin, environmental broadcaster David Attenborough, naturalist Jane Goodall, and actress Olivia Colman are notable graduates, as are politicians, royals, athletes, and cultural luminaries.
However, Cambridge is the highest ranked university in the UK for both academic and employer reputation, in second place globally for these indicators.
3. Imperial College London
Imperial College London, the top-ranked university in the city, wins the bronze medal in the UK. This year, it climbs one spot to eighth rank globally, and it now holds ninth place in terms of academic repute.
With several campuses located throughout the city, Imperial’s main campus is located in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, close to Kensington Palace.
There are more than 125 different nationalities represented in the student body, which is very diverse.
4. UCL (University College London)
UCL (University College London), which dips two spots this year to 10th in the global rankings, barely missed a slot in the top three in the UK. It ranks 13th globally and has the greatest score in the category for academic repute.
Undergraduate applicants must have received the highest grades possible on their high school examinations to be considered.
The degree with the highest applicant volume is the BSc in philosophy, politics, and economics, which has 30 candidates per opening.
5. University of Edinburgh

7. King’s College London (KCL)
King’s College London (KCL), which remains seventh in the UK this year but moves up two spots to joint-31st globally, is ranked seventh this year.
KCL, one of four London-based universities in the top 10 universities in the UK, receives great ratings across the board, but especially in the area of academic reputation, where it is ranked among the top 50 institutions in the world.
8. London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE)
The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), which is now ranked ninth in the UK and 49th overall, is the first UK university in our top 10 to enter the top 50 universities in the world.

9. University of Bristol
